TGS 2011: Street Fighter X Tekken Spills The Details

None

Two days ago, we got to see Rufus and Zangief in Street Fighter X Tekken for the first time via a cinematic trailer. Yesterday, we saw Lili, Rolento, and Heihachi join the cast. Today, Capcom has revealed so many new Street Fighter X Tekken surprises that I can barely fit them all in one article.

Let’s start with what you care about the most: characters. Capcom revealed that Toro and Kuro, the Japanese mascots for the PSN, will be playable characters. Toro will have a cute-ified version of Ryu’s move set, while Kuro will have a cute-ified version of Kazuya’s. They were confirmed for the PS Vita version, just like Cole MacGrath from inFamous was. However, Cole was later said to be in the PS3 version as well, so we might see Toro and Kuro on home consoles soon enough.

Now let’s talk about mechanics. The newest trailer revealed a “Pandora” mode, in which you sacrifice your teammate in order to receive a massive strength boost. Your teammate’s health turns into the Pandora meter, which slowly ticks down as you fight. Once it runs out, you lose the match, so be careful with it.

Finally, Capcom revealed several new gameplay modes. Not only can four players control four characters in a traditional tag-team battle, but they can also play in “scramble” mode which has all four characters on the screen at once. The final SFxTK reveal included online training modes where you and a group of friends can get together and practice combos and tactics for as long as you want. Just like the training mode in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, you can turn on fight request to be challenged in the middle of your training in order to put it all to work.

Are you hyped enough yet? I know I am.
