Warhawk was one of those games that could have, so easily, been an abject failure. It was conceived as a reboot of a single PlayStation title set in a genre that, in recent years, hasn’t engendered a large amount of support or popularity. Most people just aren’t into flight games these days, even if they’re more arcade-style than simulation. Warhawk underwent something of a redefinition, though, and became an adept, high-volume, online shooter/wargame. It did well enough to justify a de facto sequel, Starhawk. Starhawk is now ready for you to play it. According to a post on the U.S. PlayStation Blog, the Starhawk Private Beta will go live on the PSN this upcoming Tuesday, November 22, just in time for you to curse your family for their Thanksgiving plans. It might be Sony’s strategy to have you ponder their game as you drive, ride, or fly out to see those you (ostensibly and/or contractually) love, allowing the resentment you feel at their interruption of your beta time to fuel your passion for the game come release day.
