The Tales of Symphonia PC Port Is a Bust

The Tales of Symphonia PC Port Is a Bust

JRPG fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Tales of Symphonia on Steam. Many were eager to replay this classic for the first time in a decade, while others were just excited that it was included as a pre-order bonus for Tales of Zestiria. Everyone ended up being extremely disappointed, as the game is absolutely full of bugs, mistakes, and other crippling issues.

For starters, there are spelling and translation errors all over the place. How and why these errors ended up in the PC version when the PS3 version is free of them is a mystery. Those who own capable PCs and large monitors were disappointed that the game is locked at 720p / 30 fps. If you need to play the game in any language other than (error-ridden) English, don’t even bother: text and menus won’t display properly. Want to preserve your save point at certain key moments so you can relive parts of the game over again in the future? Well, you better choose wisely, because there are only 6 save slots available. To top things off, load times are atrocious and there’s a weird DRM security measure that creates a brand new executable file every single time you open the game. Just stay away from this port, very far away, until Bandai Namco stops chasing its tail (see what I did there) and does something about these issues.
