Trolls Feed On Jay Wilson’s Departure From Diablo III

Diablo III’s director, Jay Wilson, recently announced that he would be leaving the Diablo III team in order to work on another, as of yet unrevealed, Blizzard Project. Of course, the internet decided to bombard Wilson with verbal bile for every single issue they could find with Diablo III. In fact, the online vitriol got so intense, that Blizzard CEO Rob Pardo decided that he needed to replay. “If you still feel the need to dish out blame,” Pardo said, “then I would prefer you direct it at me.”

Pardo acknowledged Diablo III’s flaws and made it clear that the Diablo III team will continue working on the game even after Wilson’s departure. Pardo praised Wilson for being an excellent designer, and said that he does not deserve the slander that has been coming his way online. “If you love Diablo as much as we do, then please continue to let us know how you feel we can improve the game,” Pardo said. “If you still feel the need to dish out blame, then I would prefer you direct it at me … I was the executive producer on the project; I hired Jay and I gave him advice and direction throughout the development process. I was ultimately responsible for the game we released and take full responsibility for the quality of the result.”
