Was The PSN Hack “A Great Experience?”

Was The PSN Hack “A Great Experience?”

None

Recently, Tim Schaff of Sony Network Entertainment called the PSN outage “a great experience” in an internet forum. Obviously, he didn’t mean it was a good thing that the PSN service went down for 23 days, the PSN store went down for longer, and that everyone’s personal information was compromised by a bunch of hackers that were probably just doing it for the lulz, right?

Right.

Recently, Schaff elaborated on his comments, saying “I would not like to do it again. One time was enough. Great learning experience.” Specifically. Schaff says that this experience taught Sony what it should do in the future should a similar attack occur. It also taught Sony that they aren’t alone in the hacking world. Hackers will target anyone, and Sony was just the company that kicked off the party.

Schaff’s biggest concern was that Sony was alone in these attacks. Since certain communities were making a big deal over Sony’s trial with the famed George “GeoHot” Hotz right before the hack occurred, it was easy to assume that Sony was the only company being targeted. However, after further Anonymous activity and the eventual actions of notorious hacking group “LulzSec” it seemed like Sony certainly wasn’t alone, with even government institutions being digitally compromised. Some hackers just want to hack.
