A fan-made MMO mod for StarCraft II has been drawing a lot of attention this week. It even drew the attention of Activision Blizzard, who issued copyright infringement warnings against creator Ryan Winzen and had the pre-alpha gameplay videos removed from YouTube. But Blizzard has issued an official statement saying they have no intentions to shut down the mod. The statement says: “It was never our intention to stop development on the mod or discourage the community from expressing their creativity through the StarCraft II editor. As always, we actively encourage development of custom maps and mods for StarCraft II, as we’ve done with our strategy games in the past.”  This comes as good news for long-time StarCraft fans, because Winzen’s mod looks incredible. |
