The PlayStation Plus August Instant Game Library titles have been announced and, well, they’re okay. There aren’t bad games here, per se . They’re just not exactly huge names. Which is fine. But some people might be disappointed to hear that Yakuza 5 and Patapon 3 , two niche titles , are leading this month’s charge. Both are fantastic games, but they aren’t AAA material.
The PlayStation 4 is getting two indie games, both of them new to the system. They’re the Tricky Towers puzzle game and Rebel Galaxy space-faring RPG. PlayStation 3 owners have the open-world Yakuza 5 and the rhythmic shoot’em up Retro/Grade coming to them. Again, both are super solid, though you should absolutely play Yakuza 5 . The Vita gets the PSP game Patapon 3 , which is probably the best in that series of rhythm-based strategy games. Finally, all three Sony systems get Ultratron . It’s a twin-stick shooter that’s been out for over a year.
Of the six, I most highly recommend Yakuza 5, Patapon 3 , and Retro/Grade . All three are really pretty good, so make sure you grab them when they become available on August 2.
