As reported by AP on Monday, June 2, two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls stabbeds their friend (also 12 years of age) to near-death in some nearby woods to appease the fictional monster Slenderman.
According to the report, both perpetrators were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide on that day in the Waukesha County Circuit Court. Both girls will receive up to 60 years imprisonment if convicted; each girl has a set bail charge of $500,000, as declared by the court commissioner.
According to a criminal complaint, the two girls had been planning to kill their friend for months (as early as December) before finally attempting to do so on the morning of Saturday, May 31–after a slumber party.
One of the girls told a detective that the two were trying to become “proxies” of Slenderman after reading about him on creepypasta.wikia.com, a website about fictional horror stories and legends. According to the girl, they planned to run away with Slenderman to his “ forest mansion ” in the Nicolet National Forest after killing their friend.
The victim herself suffered 19 stab wounds, one of which is said to have missed a major artery near her heart by a millimeter. Thankfully, she is now in a stable condition as of Monday.
