Your Nintendo Account Might Score You Birthday Discounts

Your Nintendo Account Might Score You Birthday Discounts

Lately when anyone talks about Nintendo, the main talking points are the NX and Nintendo’s first mobile game, Miitomo , which is more of a weird communication app than anything else. Both of those things will be coming later in the year, but before that happens we’ll be setting up our Nintendo Accounts. Your Nintendo Account will be a global account service that ties in all of you Nintendo experiences across gaming consoles, handhelds, mobile, PC, social platforms, and even theme parks (in the future).

Personally, I can’t wait. I’m one of those people who loves being on the grid, and I don’t feel creeped out by my Google account being tied up to almost everything I do online; the unified experience is pleasant. Nintendo is shooting for that same, seamless experience in hopes of keeping fans engaged with their services. One of the ways Nintendo plans to reach out and be a part of your life is offering special discounts in the eShop during your birthday month, according to an announcement on its Japanese site. As long as your Nintendo Account is set up and you’ve opted in to receive emails and notifications from Nintendo, you’re eligible for your birthday discount. The offer rolls out this month in Japan, and will hopefully be effective immediately when the Nintendo Account service hits the States, probably in March.
