Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Cheats & Cheat Codes for NES, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is a 1987 action RPG developed and published by Nintendo. While the game was originally released for the Famicom Disk System and NES, it would also later be rereleased for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance.

Overall, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was met with a solid critical response. The game currently holds a score of 73 on Metacritic. While this is obviously strong, it’s a far cry from the critically acclaimed titles that the Zelda series has become known for in recent years.

The gameplay in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is split into two distinct sections – side-scrolling gameplay, as well as a top-down overworld for Link to explore. Side-scrolling sections feature an in-depth combat system involving spells and various stats, which Link can raise by defeating enemies and earning experience points. You can also interact with various NPCs in more ways than was possible in the previous game in the series.

In terms of the overworld map, this is used as a way to navigate from one area to the next. Enemies appear on the overworld, and when encountered, the game switches to the side-scrolling view to engage in combat. While the overworld presents the most dangerous sections of the game, it’s also the best way to earn experience and progress Link’s powers.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is a continuation of the story that started with the original Legend of Zelda one year prior. It’s the same cast of characters, and such is the strength of the group, it’s mostly the same in the modern Zelda games to this day.

  • Link: Link is a 16-year-old adventurer who is tasked with awakening Princess Zelda. To do this, he needs to combine the power of the Triforces by returning six crystals to their palaces.
  • Princess Zelda: Zelda is the Princess of Hyrule who has fallen under a sleeping spell. She has been placed in the main castle tower in the hope that one day, a hero who can break the spell will come along.

While Ganon, the evil antagonist of the series, does not reappear after he is introduced in the original game, his followers do. His presence may not be physical in this title, but he has an impact all the same.

The Zelda series is one of the most iconic in all of gaming. The games tell the story of Zelda and Link, two of the best Nintendo mascots of all time, in their ongoing effort to protect the land of Hyrule from the evil Ganon. It’s a series that has impressed over the years with its constant strive for innovation, resulting in some of the greatest video games ever.

Nintendo has done a fantastic job with quality control on the mainline Zelda titles. Returning players know they’re always in for a new experience, expanding on previous titles in meaningful ways. As a result, the Zelda games have remained immensely popular among gamers, despite approaching four decades in the mainstream now. Few other series that are relevant to this day can boast the same.

The most recent game in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, was another runaway critical and commercial success for Nintendo. There’s absolutely no chance we’re seeing the story of Link and Zelda come to an end any time soon.

In terms of traditional cheat codes, we’ve got some bad news. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link just doesn’t have any to offer, which is a stark contrast to some of the other NES games of the era. If you’re desperate for cheat codes in the game though, you needn’t worry. By playing the NES or Game Boy Advance version of the game on an emulator, you can use many Game Genie and Action Replay codes for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. These can change the game in many different ways and make it much easier for those who want to lower the difficulty.

These Game Genie codes should only be used on the NES version of the game.
