Zynga May Bring Social Games To Xbox LIVE

None

In a recent interview with GigaOM, Mark Pincus, co-founder of Zynga, hinted that the company might be preparing to bring their games to consoles.

“Right now we are building back-end technology, so that your game state can be saved and served up in difference screens/devices,” Pincus said. “The interaction cues will take from the different devices. In other words, you can play a game on a computer and call it up on Xbox and you resume from the point you left off, except the game play will now be customized for the Xbox controller.”

This is pretty much exactly what happens with Zynga’s iOS games; they play differently on mobile platforms and PCs.

Pincus did not actually confirm that they will be bringing their games to the Xbox. He merely used the Xbox as an example, so it may have been entirely speculative. Still, Zynga is building some sort of technology to allow them cross-platform support, and the Xbox is well known for their downloadable game market. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Zynga’s games ended up on Xbox LIVE someday soon.
