RUMOR: Xbox Dashboard Update To Increase Disc Capacity

None

We all know that the Xbox 360’s DVD format has restricted the platform in recent years due to its 6.8 GB storage capacity cap. However, a new dashboard update will reportedly make it possible for the Xbox to use more storage on the disc. A standard dual-layer DVD can hold up to 7.95 GB of storage, so it can be assumed that if sources are correct, the update will free up a little more than 1 GB of storage on future releases.

If you were wondering what was occupying this space before the update, it was some DRM and a DVD-video partition that contained anti-piracy sectors. Neither of these are really necessary, and they may be downsized or omitted completely in future releases.
