A PlayStation 4.5 Could Have a Better GPU and 4K Support

A PlayStation 4.5 Could Have a Better GPU and 4K Support

Ready for a rumor? It’s a good one. Kotaku ’s heard Sony is working on a possible PlayStation 4.5. Supposedly, it’s so far along that the company has been telling developers about this upgraded version of the system.

So, what’s new about it? Well, this alleged PlayStation 4.5 will have a better GPU. The effect of this will be twofold. The improved processor will allow the system to support 4K resolution. It will also be beneficial for PlayStation VR games, so they’ll run better on the system and headset.

Keep in mind that this is a rumor. Kotaku claims to have heard about the PlayStation 4.5 from multiple sources. However, Sony has not confirmed or denied any of the rumors. There’s no word on a price, release date, or if people who already have a PlayStation 4 will be able to somehow upgrade it to a 4.5.

This news isn’t too surprising. Microsoft announced it wants to offer incremental updates for the Xbox One. Nintendo released an improved New 3DS that is a bit better than the original handheld. A PlayStation 4.5 to go with PS VR isn’t too crazy.
