New Xbox Ones Planned for 2016 and 2017

E3 is around the bend, which means more rumors! The latest have to do with the Xbox One and come from sources who confided in both Kotaku and Polygon . That’s twice the corroboration! Which is essential, since it alleges that there’ll be one new version of the Xbox One released in 2016, followed by a second in 2017!

The first Xbox One is going to basically be a slim model. It’ll have a 2TB hard drive and be out sometime this year. It’ll be announced at E3, possibly alongside news that Microsoft will make all first party games from here on out available on the Xbox One and Windows 10.

The second Xbox One is going to be the first of incremental updates, going for a new approach as opposed to a new console every generation. It’s code name is Scorpio, it will support 4K resolution, an alleged 6 teraflops performance, and Oculus Rift support. It will be revealed in June and out sometime in 2017.

While I’m okay with the idea of a PlayStation 4 Neo, which isn’t a full console upgrade, but rather an option for people who want to focus on VR and 4K, I don’t like an actual console upgrade that might result in exclusive games. The Xbox One isn’t even three years old!
