In what can been seen as a strange battle between movie monsters of the 1950’s (much like when Godzilla fights Rodan or Mothra) gamers now seem to be caught in the cross-fire of a weird cyber-feud.
Over the weekend, the PSN was once again attacked, causing connectivity issues for its users. Apparently, Xbox Live also experienced similar disruptions, but seemingly to a smaller extent. The online groupe LizardSquad claimed credit for the assault, taking to their Twitter feed with the words PSN Login and the hashtags #offline #LizardSquad .
A recent YouTube video has surfaced (supposedly released by a representative of Anonymous) that threatens LizardSquad and promises to assist in their downfall if they continue attacking the gaming community. While some have disputed its authenticity, here is an excerpt of the masked-man’s comments: “You have made countless threats against Xbox Live and PlayStation Network…If you continue to attempt to attack the gaming communities we will take action against you. What you are doing is wrong… We will stop at nothing to ensure that you never attack the gaming communities again. You have been warned. We are anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Lizard Squad expect us.”
Yet another attack is reportedly planned for Christmas Day. CheatCC will keep you posted as the story develops, once we can confirm Anonymous’s alleged involvement (or lack thereof).
