After having been out for only a couple of months, Arc System Works has announced that a sequel to Guilty Gear Xrd is in development. The new game, called Guilty Gear Xrd –REVELATOR- will improve on the previous title with a number of new balance changes and characters.
The first new character is everyone’s favorite suave pirate captain, Johnny. Johnny once again will be using his iaido style of sword drawing along with numerous stance moves and coin flings in order to combat his opponents.
The second character appears to be some sort of prisoner, as a ball and chain is attached to her ankle. Unfortunately, she has only been revealed as a silhouette so far, so we have no idea what her move list will be like.
-REVELATOR- will also introduce a brand new control scheme called Stylish Mode. This control scheme will simplify the controls of any character, allowing them to auto-combo and use special moves at the push of a button. Unfortunately, it will also lock away much of a character’s move list as well, preventing you from playing the character to the best of your ability. It’s meant to introduce new players to the game, and will operate much like BlazBlue’s easy mode did.
Location tests for the game are scheduled for the weekends of June 5 and June 19 in Japan. Hopefully we will see a -REVELATOR- cabinet at E3 as well.
