Arcus II: Silent Symphony is a 1989 adventure RPG game developed and published by Wolf Team. The game was released exclusively in Japan for numerous platforms including the X68000, PC-8801, and MSX2.
Arcus II: Silent Symphony Premise
On the surface, Arcus II: Silent Symphony is a pretty generic RPG. You wander the world, killing enemies and earning gold. Its core gameplay loop is definitely similar to many RPGs of the era. However, it’s missing a few things that really hold it back.
The first is the lack of items. There are healing and magic potions that you can buy, but they’re the only items in the game. This really restricts you in what you’re able to do.
On top of this, there’s a distinct lack of progression. You don’t level up in the game, nor do you earn any new abilities. This makes the game ramp up in difficulty fast, and you never really feel like you’re progressing in strength. With the lack of levels, defeating enemies doesn’t earn you any XP. And since enemies exist in the overworld, you can just dodge them, making a beeline for the bosses. The game doesn’t give you any incentive to actually engage in combat with its enemies, which is just bizarre.
Arcus II: Silent Symphony Main Characters
Arcus II: Silent Symphony‘s protagonist is Pikto, the twelve-year-old orphan from the previous game. Now a decade older, he has reason to believe that finding the sword Runeblade will lead him to his long-lost father.
Arcus II: Silent Symphony Titles in the Series
The Arcus series will be more familiar to players in Japan. The first three titles in the series were exclusive to the region, with the rest of the world not getting a taste of what it has to offer for the first time with 1991’s Arcus Odyssey. Unfortunately, it would be the last iteration of the series, too.
The developer of the series Wolf Team moved on to other projects, notably creating the highly popular Tales franchise, making Arcus somewhat irrelevant. It’s a series that time has mostly forgotten, and we’d be shocked if it ever made a return.

Arcus II: Silent Symphony Cheat Codes
Sadly, there are no cheat codes for this game. None at all. We think there’s one reason for that.
Due to the game being exclusive to Japan, this massively harmed the number of players able to experience it. As a result, the community willing to make third-party cheats for the game simply never developed. As for base game cheats? This could be down to the number of different platforms the game released on, with it proving to be too much hassle to add various codes in this way. However, this is purely speculation.
