Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Announced

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Announced

None

Remember that countdown clock we spotted at BaldursGate.com yesterday? Well, it finally ran out, and behind the skull sigil was Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.

BG:EE will be a remake of the original Baldur’s Gate. No platforms have been announced yet, but a PC release is probably a safe bet. Not only will the game be re-made and re-released, but totally new content is being created as well. “It’s being lovingly crafted in the spirit of the original with the help of some of the original developers,” said a rep from Beamdog, the studio leading the project. The game is set to come out sometime this summer.

Shortly after the announcement of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Beamdog’s creative director Trent Oster tweeted that a Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition is also in the works. It was also mentioned that both BG:EE and BG2:EE would come complete with their respective game’s original expansion packs. They will also include a totally redone multiplayer, and there is a possibility that you would even be able to import your original Baldur’s Gate/Baldur’s Gate 2 save files.

We will bring you more information on the Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition project as it becomes available.
