Books Will Take Us From Mass Effect 3 to Andromeda

BioWare’s already said that we won’t see how the end of Mass Effect 3 influences Mass Effect: Andromeda . They’ll be connected, but distinct and different entities. We’ll swiftly move from one to the other. Unless you head to your local bookstore or library, because then you’ll totally see how the two connect. Four books are on the way.

It’ll all start with N. K. Jemisin’s Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation. It’ll be released in August and introduce us to the series. Two more novels will appear in March and September 2017, though their authors and titles have yet to be revealed. There’s a good chance the second novel could still come before the Mass Effect: Andromeda game, which will be released in the first quarter of 2017. Finally, the last book will be released in March 2018 and written by Mac Walters, Mass Effect: Andromeda’ s creative director.

This is actually a very sound plan. We’ll get to find out how the Mass Effect trilogy we know and love connects to Andromeda , but won’t have to sit through shoehorned-in exposition that may or may not take our choices into account. People who want it can get it, and those of us who’d prefer to go in fresh can. Everyone wins!
