Bungie Making an Engine for Next Game

Bungie Making an Engine for Next Game

None

While the ten year publishing deal that Bungie signed with Activision made a huge splash, coming at roughly the same time as the Infinity Ward mess, we still know virtually nothing about Bungie’s plans for their next title. Thankfully, due to an interview between Develop and Bungie communications manager Brian Jarrard, we now know that Bungie is building a new engine for their upcoming title.

In this interview Jarrard states “I think it goes hand-in-hand with our independent spirit.” He continues “Just like we don’t want to develop a game off someone else’s IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That’s going to be our position for the foreseeable future.” Jarrard further explains “Yeah, [the new engine is] actually in development, so I would say it’s in a stage where, technically we’re still at the end of a pre-production mode.” Finishing he proclaims “But now that Reach is done the full weight of our team is rolling into the project. Real work is underway.” Here’s hoping this means we’ll be hearing even more details about their upcoming title in the months to come.
