Capcom Breaks into Mobile Market, Focuses on Big IPs

Capcom Breaks into Mobile Market, Focuses on Big IPs

Not to be left behind by the likes of Sony, Nintendo, and Square Enix, Capcom announced today that it intends to work its way into the mobile market in a bigger way soon. In a release to investors (via Polygon ), Capcom revealed that it has done a little bit of shuffling and created Capcom Mobile Co. from its existing mobile branches. Capcom Mobile Co. will be focus solely on the development of smartphone games centered around Capcom’s most successful IPs.

Remember that survey Capcom hosted on its Japanese website gauging interest in a new Mega Man game? At the time I was encouraged that there weren’t a ton of questions pertaining to mobile games like we saw in Sega’s survey (I expect to hear about a renewed focus on mobile from them soon). I guess I was a bit naive in my optimism, and we can apparently expect to see Mega Man as well as Monster Hunter on our smartphones sometime before March 2017; Capcom plans to release four mobile games between now and then.
