Project X Zone Westward Bound

Project X Zone Westward Bound

This summer, fans of Capcom, NAMCO Bandai, and Sega will be getting their strategy-RPG on. Project X Zone, a 3DS title created by Monolith Soft and released in Japan last October, is now slated for release in Western territories such as Europe, Australasia, and North America this summer. Take note: the press release only mentions Europe and Australasia, but “Brelston,” an employee of Capcom, specifically posted about the game’s North American release in his Capcom Unity blog.

Combining hundreds of characters from almost 30 distinct franchises, Project X echos earlier mash-ups such as Namco X Capcom, which never made it stateside. Licensing for these cross-publisher games is always something of a trial in international release, but it appears that Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega are all willing to work together to make it happen this time out.

Perhaps one of the most exciting things about the game is that both Mega Man X and Zero have been confirmed as usable characters in Project X Zone. Summer can’t come soon enough.
