Capcom Teases Fans With Mysterious Code

Capcom Teases Fans With Mysterious Code

None

It’s time to start flexing your code deciphering muscles, because Capcom has let us know what their E3 plans are—in code. An entry on their official Japanese blog said that Capcom will be issuing a follow up report on “something we haven’t heard about for a while.” We know it’s not Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, nor is it Street Fighter X Tekken. The only other hit Capcom gave us, was this: 10100 – 1000 – 1001 – 10010 – 100

Here’s my working theory.

The only numbers in the clue are zeroes and ones, so obviously it’s some sort of binary code. In binary code, each number is made of eight digits, but the first few digits only denote whether or not the letter is upper case or lower case. So if Capcom’s code has removed the first few digits, and all preceding zeroes have also been removed, then we can assume that these mysterious number sequences are binary representations of letters.

Converting the binary to decimal gives us 20 – 8 – 9 – 18 – 4, and if you correspond this to letter of the alphabet you get T – H – I – R – D. Third, as in Third Strike?

Moreover, if you simply subtract the letters we were given in the first place you get -2011. So perhaps the Capcom is telling us that Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition is going to be coming out in 2011. Or perhaps they are saying we will see new Marvel VS Capcom 3 DLC in 2011. Or perhaps they found a new date for the rapture or the Mayan apocalypse.

Whatever it is, we will be looking into it more closely next week at E3.
