Control Your 360 With Your Phone

None

The way that Microsoft has been trying to tie the Windows Phone to their Xbox consoles is starting to feel a bit desperate. I’ll admit, every time they tease a new feature, I get a little excited, but it’s sort of like they’re trying to mask the flavor in a bad cup of coffee with too much cream and sugar.

The company has announced their latest artificial sweetener: Xbox controls.

In an official blog, a Microsoft rep runs down the basic details: “Once I selected the content and hit play, the Xbox Companion flips into ‘controller mode’ in which I could navigate my Xbox, or control video playback of your video. The best part here is that controls are virtually instantaneous – easily as fast as using my controller or a TV remote.”

Hopefully, I’m just being my pessimistic self and Microsoft’s Xbox-centric phone platform will prove to be extraordinarily useful, but let’s not forget about the Zune.
