Crysis II Gets DirectX 11 Support

Crysis II Gets DirectX 11 Support

None

As the sequel to the game players have, since 2007, used to benchmark their gaming machines, Crysis II struck a nerve when it launched both with decreased system requirements and without DirectX 11 support. On Monday, Crytek intends to rectify this with patch v1.9.

Changes included in patch v1.9 include the aforementioned DirectX 11 support and the option for users to install a high resolution texture pack. The newly introduced DirectX 11 features include: tessellation and displacement mapping (which introduces improved water rendering), high quality HDR motion blur, particle motion blur, and quality-of-life fixes, such as the formerly broken bullet penetration and stat glitches in multiplayer.

With this update, Crytek intends to offer gamers a taste of DirectX 11 gaming, something that will allow those who play with high-end computers to truly give their powerful PCs a workout. For the rest of us, these graphical additions are wholly optional, much like with the Dragon Age II high-res texture pack earlier this year.
