Crysis Remastered Delayed, Tencent Starts US-Based Studio

Crysis Remastered has been a curious release, bringing back a game that has been used as a PC benchmark for years with supposedly improved assets and visuals. An upcoming trailer leaked, and many fans pointed out it looks like the PC version on low settings. In response, the game has been delayed and the developer is promising a more high-fidelity experience.

Tencent Establishes US Development Studio for AAA Games ( via gamesindustry.biz )

Chinese corporate giant Tencent, which has shares in many popular game studios and owns major studios like Riot Games, has opened a new studio of its own. LightSpeed LA is opening up under Rockstar alum Steve Martin, and the studio is working on a AAA game for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Martin has stated the studio will be “crunch-free” and promote an “inclusive culture.”

Indie games on consoles have a strong history going back to the Xbox 360, but the Nintendo Switch and the “Nindies” brand has really made smaller game support a keystone for console success. Shuhei Yoshida, who is heading up the indie department over at PlayStation, has revealed a new branding set to show a dedication to that space. PlayStation Indies has 9 games currently under its banner, and this initiative will include bringing more small games to PS5, and aid in their development in addition to publishing.
