You know that Sonic the Hedgehog movie people have been talking about? You know, the one that’s going to be a CGI / live action hybrid and involve Sonic, his crew, and probably real people? Well, it is moving forward. It’s moving so far forward that it actually has some important people attached to the project. Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool , and Blur Studio’s Jeff Fowler are working on it. Fowler will direct, while Miller will be the executive producer.
This makes five people who are attached to the project. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, who wrote Golan the Insatiable, Dorm Daze 1 and 2, and Transylmania , are working on the script. Which seems promising, because those guys have just done so much great stuff we’ve all loved and appreciated. Neal H. Moritz, producer on the Fast & Furious and Jump Street movies, is going to produce this.
As skeptical as I am about all video game movies, I think there’s a way the Sonic the Hedgehog one can succeed. If it goes super campy and leans into the goofiness, it could be a winner. Maybe. Fingers crossed.
