Diablo III Not Coming in 2010

None

At the BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference in New York today, Activision Blizzard Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tippl gave a presentation outlining the short-term and longer-term prospects of the company.

While Starcraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are still slated for a 2010 release, Diablo III has been pushed to “next few years” status. Below you can see an image of the telltale PowerPoint slide taken by Kotaku that confirms the bad news.

We don’t believe Diablo III will launch later than spring of 2011, however – especially considering the recent success of Borderlands and Dragon Age.

Tippl said: “Diablo III is coming along well. Blizzard has expansion packs for Starcraft II in development. They have a continuous innovation plan for the Battle.Net platform, as well as an unannounced MMO to come sometime down the road.”
