Double Fine Trademarks “The Cave”

Double Fine Trademarks “The Cave”

None

Double Fine, the guys behind the ludicrously successful Kickstarter that earned them over a million dollars in a few days, has recently filed a new trademark. The filing is for a game called “The Cave” and was completed on February 22nd, 2012. While many of us would jump to the conclusion that this is the game that will be made with the Kickstarter funds, many of us would be wrong.

“While we can’t comment on unannounced projects, we can say that Double Fine’s Kickstarter-funded adventure game has not been started, designed, or even imagined yet,” a studio representative told Game Informer. “No trademarks have been filed on its behalf.”

While this has disappointed many Double Fine fans, it’s worth it to look at this piece of news in a different light. This means that Double Fine is not working on one, but two new video games that will be coming out in the near future. Fans of Psychonauts and Brutal Legend will certainly have their plates full soon.

The big question: What sort of game is “The Cave?” It sure sounds like another adventure title, even if it’s not the Kickstarter title in question.
