EVO News: Tekken 7 Announced

Before the last few grand final events at EVO 2014, Katsuhiro Harada took to the stage to announce something big: Tekken 7 . Yes, the 3D fighter franchise is getting a new installment, and it’s reveal was complete with a cinematic trailer. The trailer showed what we could only assume is Heihachi’s long dead wife, back from the dead, and commenting that Kazuya must know that he “inherited her powers.” This whole devil gene thing is getting hilariously complicated.

What’s also worth noting is that the whole trailer ends with the words “final battle.” This has lead some to theorize that this is the very last Tekken we will see, at least for a while. Namco Bandai has not yet commented on whether or not this is the end of the franchise, or just the end to the ongoing King of the Iron Fist tournament story arc.

Currently, no gameplay details have been revealed about the project. Hopefully we will hear more soon.
