GameStop Cancels The Indie Game Challenge

GameStop Cancels The Indie Game Challenge

The Indie Game Challenge is an annual event that happens at the DICE conference every year. But this year, unfortunately, will be different. The challenge, held by GameStop, has been put on hiatus while GameStop “takes time to analyze ways to promote and celebrate the independent game movement.”

Even though the event has been canceled, DICE and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has said that they still strongly support indie game development. Since the Indie Game Challenge’s timeslot in the conference will now be open, DICE is inviting several prominent speakers to fill the void. The speakers will include Amir Rao from Supergiant Games, and Jenova Chen from thatgamecompany. Other mobile indie developers including Halfbrick, Supercell, Backflip, and Spry Fox will also have representatives in the panel track.
