Half A Million Vitas Shipped In Japan So Far

None

Most of us had a feeling that the Vita would be a popular little console, but we’re finally starting to see some actual numbers roll in from Japan.

According to Enterbrain, Sony has shipped around 500,000 units in Japan and sold 321,407 of those in the first two days.

“I’m so happy to see so many people lining up for PS Vita so early in the morning,” Hiroshi Kono, Sony Entertainment Japan’s President wrote in his official blog. “I can tell they had anxiously waited for today’s launch.”

By comparison, Nintendo’s 3DS sold a scant 371,326 units in its first two days.

The Vita won’t make its way to North America and Europe until Feb. 22. So, you’ll have to jealously watch Japan have all the fun until then.
