Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Vita has sold 2.2 million units as of June 30 th .
Playfront.de had previously reported on the figure, but it was unconfirmed and didn’t provide a date. Sony has now told Joystiq: “The latest figures we’ve released for Vita (as of June 30th) are 2.2. million sales worldwide.
The last figure released by Sony regarding the PlayStation Vita sales was 1.8 million units sold. That means that the PSP successor sold only 400,000 units during Q2 with the PSP itself selling over a million units.
Sony recently stated that they won’t be dropping the price of the Vita in 2012, but its engineers are working on “cost reduction” methods.
