Nintendo 3DS XL Sells 193k In Japan

Nintendo 3DS XL Sells 193k In Japan

None

Nintendo bulky new 3DS XL has sold an estimated 193,000 units in Japan since its July 28 launch, according to Enterbrain.

The figure is about half as high as the handheld’s predecessor, the 3DS, which managed to sell out its entire Japanese shipment of 400,000 units in a day. The PlayStation Vita, meanwhile, sold a little over 321,000 units during its Japan launch last December.

New Super Mario Bros. 2, which was released during the same timeframe, reportedly sold just over 430,000 copies itself, making it the big winner of the week as far as software goes. The report makes no mention of digital sales, however, so take the number with a grain of salt for now.

As for us Western folk, we’ll be able to get our hands on the 3DS XL, and New Super Mario Bros. 2, when they launch on August 19 in North America.
