Harada Speaks On Weeding Out The Negative

Harada Speaks On Weeding Out The Negative

None

In a lengthy diatribe posted to his Twitter yesterday, Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada expressed his intense frustration with what he sees as the negative elements of the Tekken fan community. He comes across as fatigued, tired of fans repeatedly making requests or demands related to voice-work that they perceive as distinct from that in the earlier games (even in cases where it is the same master data) and entreaties for specific characters to make a return.

Harada has a point; a tremendous amount of work goes into these games and, with demands coming from all direction to both make an entry in the series “better” than the last while making sure it cleaves close to tradition, it becomes impossible to satisfy everyone and discouraging when even complaints that are addressed are met with further demands or simple silence.

This open letter to the Tekken fan community ends with an appropriately apathetic coda: “Thanks for understanding or not understanding. Whatever.”
