Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter released a story confirming that Harry Potter Actor Daniel Radcliffe is currently in negotiations to star as Sam Houser in BBC’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto inspired film. The premise of this dramatic movie revolves around Houser’s real-life battle with Miami Lawyer Jack Thompson over banning GTA for video game violence.
Production on the movie is underway and shooting will begin on April 20 th . It’s currently unclear who will be playing the role of Thompson, but I fully expect a formal announcement on this any day now.
BBC’s decision to tackle this topic in a film is definitely intriguing because it sheds some light on the industry and how outsiders view video games. There is no official word on when this movie will air, but I can guarantee that it will generate a fair amount of buzz when it does.
