The advertising and hype machine for Homefront went into overdrive with this week’s release of the game, but some of the ads associated with the game have been sending the wrong signal. A banner ad on YouTube sported a realistic-looking “breaking news” ticker with pictures of Hillary Clinton accompanying a blast photo.


Many people who logged on to the site while the ad was live took the ad as a real news bulletin and were shocked to find out about the game promotion. Although gamers probably recognized the ad instantly, it is understandable how non-gamers could perceive the ad as genuine. The ad has been since been pulled.
