Avalance Studios has had to lay off members of its team in both its New York and Stockholm offices.
Speaking to Game Informer, a company representative attributed their hardships to the transitioning period between projects, stating that it is, “…always challenging, especially for independent developers.” The company had just wrapped up work on Mad Max and has Just Cause 3 coming out later this month. He continued, “In starting up our new projects, we were not able to perfectly match the team sizes and skill sets of the previoous ones, and we unfortunately had to let some talented developers go.”
According to him, 12 developers were given notice in the New York offices. He says around the same number of people were let go from the offices in Stockholm. The developer is reportedly doing its best to hire those developers back as soon as it can, and is taking measures to avoid situations like this in the future.
