Limbo Vita Not Being Made By Limbo Developers

Playdead, the folks behind Limbo, have announced that the Vita version of the game will not be made in-house. Instead, it will be made by LittleBigPlanet co-developers Double Eleven. This is the first time that Playdead has outsourced any of their work. A new experience for them to be sure.

“This version of the game is for the first time being made externally,” Playdead CEO Dino Patti told Joystiq. “In the way we work there is normally no room for outsourcing, but the talented team at Double Eleven has convinced us that this is the right decision.”

This doesn’t mean that the Vita version of Limbo will have any new content, though. On the contrary, Double Eleven will be attempting to make the Vita Limbo play exactly the same as every other version of Limbo. One has to wonder why Playdead would outsource the work if the game won’t be altered in any way. Maybe Double Eleven has some surprises up their sleeve.

For now, Limbo’s Vita version doesn’t have an official release date, however keep your eyes peeled for a PS Plus promotion soon after the game is released.
