Marvel Studios President Talks Guardians and Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios President Talks Guardians and Doctor Strange

It’s certainly a busy time for Marvel.  With almost an insurmountable amount of projects their juggling (the Captain America sequel, the Avengers sequel, the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy , Ant Man , Doctor Strange ) it’s amazing how the studio can keep all these balls in the air!

In a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige gave a little insight into just how much fan reaction echoes back to them, and if it plays a bigger role these days in how their projects come together. For example, the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer recently premiered online, to which Feige had this to say regarding the positive feedback: “I was very pleased with it, because it’s still early days for us, as the movie is coalescing and formulating itself in the cutting room, but there are a few things that we would be locked into: the cast, their looks, our use of music and our very unique tone. The fact that that’s what that teaser is about and that’s what people are embracing, there are a lot of happy people in the offices, that people are into this.”

Another recently announced project is Doctor Strange . While familiar to comic fans, this particular character may not hold the same marquee name value to casual movie goers as did Iron Man for example. So is casting an A-List actor (as they did with Robert Downey Jr.) the answer? Feige is not opposed to the idea, but also isn’t opposed to an out of the box casting choice of an unknown. “I think if you’re looking to track our decision-making and how we’ve done things, we have a pretty wide track record now where you can sort of see. So, no, a movie star is not required, but that doesn’t mean a movie star wouldn’t be great. It just depends.” Feige said.

No firm release date yet for Doctor Strange but Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters this summer.
