MGS5 Not Really “Confirmed”

MGS5 Not Really “Confirmed”

None

We, the staff of Cheat Code Central, owe you an apology. More specifically, I owe you an apology, because I misled you.

Last week, we posted what we thought was a breaking story on the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5. According to OPM UK, they had an interview with Hideo Kojima in which the man himself discussed both the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising and, more to the point, Metal Gear Solid 5. They revealed today that, in so far as discussing MGS5, Kojima was merely speculating:

“I think we’ll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea,” he had said, continuing on to state that his involvement would likely be less intense than it had been with the original Metal Gear Solid.

Instead of a confirmation, it’s a resigned admission that another entry in the series is likely. To all the fans whom we excited with the news that MGS5 was a go, we apologize. I apologize. We will be more careful in the future so that an incident like this does not occur again.
