Kojima To Demo Fox Engine Next Month

None

Metal Gear series mastermind Hideo Kojima has confirmed that he and the rest of his Kojima Productions studio will be giving a public presentation of its new Fox Engine at an unnamed event in Japan on August 30.

Reflecting on the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise to the US PlayStation Blog, Kojima says that the Fox Engine is “nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along.”

“Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games,” he continued.

“Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do… on August 30th in Japan to be more specific.”

Buzz about Kojima’s recently confirmed next entry in the MGS series, Metal Gear Solid 5, has been steadily growing for weeks now. With Kojima revealing last month that MGS5 will be running on the Fox Engine, his statements here certainly hint that we could have some new information on the highly-anticipated sequel in store next month. We’ll just have to wait and see, though, whether or not that will actually be the case.
