Via Internet brand protection company MarkMonitor, Microsoft has acquired several domains for future Halo games: halo7.net, halo7.org, halo8.org, as well as halo9.net and halo9.org.
As for Halo 5’s domain and Halo9.com, those domains were bought by Microsoft during February and March, 2012.
Does this mean that we’ll see a third Halo trilogy? It’s possible. But it’s also possible that Microsoft is just covering their bases so they don’t end up having to shell out massive amounts of cash to purchase these domains from forward-thinking domain buyers later on.
343 Industries’ Halo 4, the first major installment in the franchise to not be developed by series’ creator Bungie, will spark the start of a new trilogy for the iconic series, which will continue onto the Xbox 720.
Halo 4 itself is due for a worldwide release on November 6 th , 2012.
