Miitomo and My Nintendo Launch Today

Miitomo and My Nintendo Launch Today

The wait is finally over, folks. Nintendo and DeNA’s first collaborative mobile app Miitomo is here, and it’s about as weird as I thought it’d be. It’s fun, though! Miitomo is the reason I got a late start to my work day (don’t tell my boss). Creating and detailing your Mii is easy and fun, and you even get tweak his or her personality before shopping for some new threads. We’re all at least a little narcissistic, right? Who doesn’t love recreating little versions of themselves? It’s the reason creating new characters in Fallout 4 and Morrowind is so satisfying.

After you boot up Miitomo for the first time and answer some questions, you’ll notice that you’re earning some Miitomo and Platinum Points. If you’re wondering what these can be used for, head over to the My Nintendo portal where you can view various missions to unlock points, and the different rewards you can unlock with those points. Gold Points you can only earn by purchasing digital games, but those games can be made more affordable through different rewards. For example, one of the rewards available to me right now is a 15% discount on A Link Between Worlds for a measly 600 platinum points. Check out the site for yourself and see what catches your eye.
