Motorstorm Apocalypse Falls Off Japan’s Radar

Motorstorm Apocalypse Falls Off Japan’s Radar

None

The latest in Sony’s exclusive line of Motorstorm racing titles has been laid to rest in the land of the Rising Sun.

According to a report from Andriasang, Sony has quietly cancelled the title, which they had originally delayed in the wake of the recent earthquake and tsunami that devastated the small island nation, causing meltdowns at its Fukushima nuclear reactor.

While Sony has not issued a statement on the reason behind the cancellation, the game, which was released in both North America and Europe last month, featured drastic and dramatic changes to tracks by way of natural disasters, forcing players to adapt and take a more varied course across them. It is possible that game was pulled specifically because these gameplay elements could be deemed insensitive in the wake of the recent disasters.

Motorstorm Apocalypse wouldn’t be the first title to be cancelled because of the recent events in Japan. Disaster Report 4, long in development by Irem, ceased development only days after the earthquake struck.
