In order to watch Netflix on your Xbox 360 you typically need to have a Netflix account and an Xbox Live Gold membership. However, Microsoft is going to give silver members a chance to see what they are missing. This weekend Netflix will be unlocked for Xbox Live Silver members. Unfortunately, you still need a Netflix account (paid, of course) to use Netflix in the first place. So, oddly enough, this promotion is only for people who are paying for Netflix, but aren’t willing to pay for online play on their Xbox. Seems like a pretty small cross section. Oh well, enjoy your Netflix, silver members.
Speaking of streaming TV, Hulu’s Adzone can now be accessed on an Xbox without a Hulu Plus subscription. However, the ability to watch your favorite commercials whenever you like (no really, that’s what Adzone is) still requires an Xbox Live Gold membership. So, in essence, you will be paying to watch commercials.
