Call Of Duty Elite’s Popularity Soars

None

Honestly, I didn’t expect Call of Duty Elite to get this many subscribers. After having only been active for six days, Call of Duty Elite had amassed over four million subscriptions. Not only that, but it had sold over one million premium memberships. Compare this to services like Netflix, Hulu, and even Xbox LIVE, which only reached one million paid subscribers after a year’s time. I think I underestimated how much we like to shoot other people in the face.

Here are some more interesting statistics for you: 80,000 Elite clans have been created, 100,000 user-generated videos have been uploaded to the Call of Duty Elite service, and over three million users log in to the service daily. Considering only four million accounts even exist, that means 75% of the fanbase is using the service on a daily basis.

Here’s what Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, had to say about the unexpected success: “The audience response to Call of Duty Elite’s premium service has been beyond our expectations, and we want to thank Call of Duty players around the world for their unprecedented enthusiasm. The number of gamers who have registered for Call of Duty Elite further illustrates how this service is poised to redefine social gaming and set a new bar for interactive entertainment.”
