Call Of Duty Elite Will Be Free For Black Ops 2

Call Of Duty Elite Will Be Free For Black Ops 2

Activision has announced that all Call of Duty Elite services will be available for free for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Before, the Elite premium service allowed subscribers early access to downloadable map packs and additional services. Black Ops 2, meanwhile, appears to be doing away with this model in favor of a season pass for its eventual DLC packs.

The pass, which will cost 4000 Microsoft Points ($49.99), will let Xbox 360 owners purchase Black Ops 2’s four future DLC map packs throughout 2013. Normally, each pack would cost 1200 Bill Gates Fun Money Points ($14.99).

Thus far, no equivalent announcement has been made for the PlayStation 3, Wii U, or PC versions of the shooter. Activision’s announcement even goes so far as to note that each map pack “may not be available on all gaming platforms,” but it’s still unlikely that the company would deny such in-demand features to other platforms.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out on November 13.
