It seems like Oddworld Inhabitants is the only publisher that can keep a secret these days. We’ve just learned that a new Oddworld game has been announced, and for once, we heard it from the publisher! From the official site: “Witness Abe’s horrifying conflict with a terrifying new machination. A fresh narrative – a complete story retake inspired by our original tale. A big visual and cinematic leap aiming to break new ground for Oddworld. Intelligent new mechanics, twisted new devices enabling highly explosive deviousness. A dark parable that tells an epic tale of a volatile society pushed to its limits.” Sounds like this one is going to be big.
As you peruse the website you’ll find that a lot of the same descriptors keep popping up, words like dark, twisted, disgusting, and devious. Soulstorm will take a more mature leaning as Abe and hundreds of newly freed Mudokons struggle to survive in the wake of Molluck The Glukkon’s fall as the RuptureFarms boss. The game will be a follow-up to New ‘n’ Tasty, which you have a chance to win for free if you sign up for the Oddworld Inhabitants newsletter through the game’s official page linked above. Expect Soulstorm sometime in late 2017.
