The rumor mill about a new console cycle went into overdrive this weekend, as online publisher ZDNet uncovered an online resume that includes a description of a Microsoft console that is coming in 2015. Though it might seem a little bit crazy to be thinking about a console releasing four years from now, companies routinely start work on home consoles several years before launch dates (Sony has even admitted to working on the next PlayStation), and it wouldn’t be too surprising given the Xbox’s aging hardware.  However, the owner of the online resume came forward today and revealed that he is only an art student, and the listing was part of a school project. So, while Microsoft may indeed be working on a new console (and why wouldn’t they be?), news of it has yet to hit the Internet, so we can all stop collectively holding our breath. |
